South East Regional May Day Festival to celebrate
International Worker’s Day in style with music, spoken word, poetry, speakers
and food. This will be a legal
festival to strengthen and nurture the Southeast radical community. |
Lets' Get On With It, We've Got a
World to Win!!! May 1st is International Workers Day, also known as May
Day, whose history goes back to 1886 when a massive general strike took place
in the This is our world, and the ruling regimes have proven
themselves unfit caretakers of the planet. What we do now and what we do over this whole coming
period, in unity with people across the globe, will help shape and determine
the outcome of the war on With all this in mind, the DSMDC is calling for events of
defiance and celebration. MAY
FIRST... ACT!!! We call on
people to plan actions and events that take on the current trajectory of war
and oppression, and that celebrate our undeniable right to resist and rebel!
We call on students throughout the South to organize teach-ins, walk-outs,
rallies, or confront military recruiters. Step up and into the school of
resistance. We call on people to close their shops, block their streets,
and not allow business as usual. Be creative, be determined, cross your line,
FIGHT BACK!!! MAY
THIRD... CELEBRATE!!! We are
calling for a South-East Convergence in A day
to celebrate a world in birth! Today,
many people are learning that the future cannot be left up to the
imperialists. We need a future worth living in. But there will be no better
world in the future unless we take up the challenges of today. That challenge
is this: to analyze what we have accomplished and what we have yet to do; to
build on those accomplishments and apply the lessons we have learned to the
new and more difficult challenges; to rely on each other and to strengthen
our camaraderie, our organization and our understanding; and on that strong
basis to find creative and determined ways to rally forward the next waves of
mass resistance in our march toward a better world. -Dirty South May Day Committee |
